Weekly Round Up! #3

This week Adam took some time off of work - we made the most of our time together and had a lovely couple of days. Monday we met my best friend and cousin for lunch. Both of them live in London so I don't get to see them as much as I like so when they are back I always love to get together. Eadie was very well behaved, she ended up falling asleep on me whilst we ate. I made my friend cry as I asked her to be Eadies 'godmother' we arent christening Eadie as we aren't religious so we are having a naming day for her in August. So we need to decide what to call Cady - someone said a mentor, someone said a guardian. Have you had a naming day and if so what did you call the 'godparents' ?! After lunch we went to my Uncles house who I dont get to see often so all around a perfect day.

On Tuesday we went out to huffkins for breakfast - not great for the diet but still managed to lose a pound this week - YAY! We then went shopping for my 'push present' so Adam wants to get me a new watch. I tried on loads of watches buy didnt fall in love immediately with any. I think I want a Daniel Wellington Watch but I cant decide on the strap colour - probably tan?!

Wednesday we headed to Blenheim Palace for a walk - it is absolutely stunning there. We ended up turning our day passes in to annual passes as we are planning on getting a puppy so will hopefully do lots of walking there! It was quite a windy day but the sun did come out, we ended up walking 4.4 miles! So treated ourselves to a big slice of coffee cake & chocolate brownie after - I was impressed as all the cakes were wheat free! We went back to Blenheim yesterday (Sunday) with our friends and ended up walking 5.4 miles! So hopefully this helps with getting my fitness levels up! Cake certainly doesn't help!

Also this week Adam lay a new floor in the living room - he started it Friday afternoon after work and was finished by Saturday morning! It looks amazing and is a lot more practical than the cream carpet I initially wanted... That is now in our bedroom. A baby and cream carpet.. What was I thinking!

Saturday evening my brother came home, he's in the Army so hadn't seen Eadie since Christmas. It was really nice to all get together and have dinner at ours!

After having such a lovely week and weekend I have Monday blues today which is ridiculous! I hope you are all having good days!

Mothering Sunday

My first ever Mothers Day has just been and gone and it was absolutely perfect in every way. Adam got up at around half 8 with Eadie and gave her her bottle whilst I snoozed, we then all snuggled in bed for awhile which is what Sundays are made for! He then got up and started breakfast, which was delicious, We had dippy eggs with asparagus wrapped in bacon! Nom!

Just before breakfast I was presented with cards, flowers and a teddy that says i love my mum! Nearly cried! All I wanted was something that said 'Mum' on it! So chuffed to pieces! I am also being taken shopping for a new watch from Adam too so super chuffed!

We had my Mum over for Sunday lunch, I had popped to M&S on Friday and picked up the Mothers Day Dine in! We were all very impressed indeed! We had the beef - Uhmazzzing! Sticky toffee pudding to follow. We then did gifts and cards with my Mum which was lovely. After lunch we sat snuggled up in blankets watching the grand prix and snoozing! Ideal Sunday.

To me this was the best way to spend my first ever Mothers Day with my loved ones at home, Family matters so much to me and since having Eadie my relationship with my Mum has just got stronger and stronger. She has literally been a rock for me and Adam and we love her so much. I hope everyone had a lovely mothers day and spent it with their nearest and dearest.

This week we have Adam home Mon / Tues / Weds so having some quality time just the three of us. Im tempted to do a Nursery room tour after reading some so you may see that on the blog soon :)

What I Keep in Eadie's changing bag!

So firstly about the bag - I didn't get a changing bag for ages. Eadie was probably 3 weeks before I finally got one! I was just using this little Johnson's zip bag that had a little mat in it, a few nappies, bags and wipes! Ridiculous. The reason I hadn't got one just came down to the fact that I didn't really like many! I found this bag back in Zara whilst I was pregnant & I wish I had just picked it up and bought it but no...! Total shoppers regret, it would have been perfect. ANYWAY, moving on. I was kindly given some mothercare vouchers so I went in there on a mission to find something suitable. I took Adam with me as wanted him to feel ok about using the bag too! He actually found the bag, it was £45.00. Its like a satchel bag with two pockets either side (handy for my phone & a dummy) a pocket at the back with the matching changing matt, and then inside it has two pockets on the front and some more compartments. We got the blue & white striped one, I believe it comes in 2 other colours. It has a brown strap & isn't absolutely hideous. Its pretty neutral and Adam doesn't look like a wolly carrying it either so that ticks a box!

Right the contents - Nappies, Nappy bags, Johnson's Wipes, and Johnson's Nappy cream. Can I just say, I once left the house for a hospital appointment not checking the bag, and well you always need more than FOUR nappies. Such a nightmare of a day - a hospital appointment that didn't exist, a poospolsion, and a screaming fit. Whatever you do always check you have enough nappies - simples!!!

I also always take a bottle with water in it ready to be heated - the pouch which is supposed to keep it warm doesn't really work! And I also have a clip lock of formula with plenty in. Next is a change of clothes, vest and baby grow incase we have a poosplosion! I also always have a muslin cloth, and a bip for feeding time! Theres normally a little hat floating around - its still so blinking cold! Tucked away at the bottom is a carrier bag, this is a much needed item if you have a poosplosion, I seem to talk about them a lot don't I! But you know when you've dealt with one so bad its resulted in throwing the clothes in the costa nappy bin you take every precaution you can!

And then stuffed in for myself is my purse, and phone and sometimes maybe a hair brush & lip balm - lucky lady I am! I cant believe that I used to always carry round a huge bag - filled to the brim with 'stuff'. Now I leave the house with next to nothing! If Im feeling really sassy I might bung the lipstick in Ive managed to smear over half my face for a top up.... Like thats ever going to happen! Ive just ordered myself a Zara shopper, god knows why. I mean when will I use it! Anyways I hope you have enjoyed having an insight to the changing bag world!

Eadie & Emily loves...

Here are a few baby items that I have found to be really helpful... This isn't everything, I have a ton of other items i would recommend. The list seems endless so I shall hopefully post about some more items soon.

Firstly is the Nuk bottles. We had quite a few nights of no sleep and hours of solid crying. One night I remember a solid seven hours of crying and no sleeping. It was hell! That morning I wrote on my facebook account that I thought Eadie had colic and sooo many people suggested things. One of the main suggestions was Dr Brown bottles, that day after 3 hours sleep I nipped to Morrison's and luckily for me spotted these. Since we swapped the bottles the difference in Eadie is unbelievable. I definitely recommend these bottles if you have quite a windy baby! I picked up a pack of 4 for £19.99.

Next is the Brights Start Kingdom swing, we were given some mothercare vouchers and I knew this would be a good idea! Eadie loves to be rocked and it got to the point where I was spending most of my day with her in my arms! So I knew I needed something to distract her whilst I made lunch or whipped the hoover round. She absolutely loves her swing, it has different speed settings and music. One evening when nothing would settle her we plonked her in there with the music on and off she drifted. Off the top of my head I believe this was £65 as there was a sale on at the time.

The blissful baby expert by Lisa Clegg has been my go to guide on routines and it works! Eadie has been sleeping through the night now for about 3 weeks which is amazing! We do have the odd blip but I really cant complain at all. I really put it down to this book and following her routine guidelines. For all expecting mothers I would suggest reading this & for all the mothers who are struggling with sleep to as well! I read it in a hurried dash when I had got to the breaking point! I wish I had spent more time reading up on these things when I was pregnant! I got this off of Amazon for about £9.99 I believe.

The Silver Cross Wayfarer - This beautiful pram was a gift from Adams Grandparents. We were so lucky to be given it as prams seem to be a costly item to buy! We were also gifted the car seat that clicks in to this frame by his Sister so we were extremely lucky indeed. I am really impressed overall with the travel system. Its easy to use, a simple yet stylish little pram. I went for the sand colour as we didnt know what we were having so it had to be neutral! If I had to pick again I would go for the limited edition eton grey one which has just recently come out! I love grey! Anyways overall really pleased with the pram, my only problem with it is when you have the actual pram bit on it (not the carseat) you cant really use the basket underneath! Its such a squeeze to get anything in it.

Next is blankets! You need loads of blankets! You will learn very quickly that most items get covered in milk and sick for the first few weeks quite regularly! We have 3 blankets that I treasure, 2 were knitted for me by a dear friend who sadly passed away whilst I was in labour. And the other blanket is crochet by another dear friend. These blankets are like my prized possessions so I keep them immaculate. I have another 3 which Eadie uses most of the time, two are from my Mum which she picked up in Morrison's. I love them because they are neutral, one is grey and white stars and the other sand and white stars. Lastly I have one of those gorgeous popcorn style blankets from Sainsburys which my good friend Taryn sent for us, its so fleecy and warm.

Lastly I recommend lots of plain white baby grows. Because we didn't find out what we were having we were gifted so many white sleep suits! They have been an absolute lifesaver, the best ones I think are from M&S. They are washed over and over and still look good as new, not faded or bobbled at all. I know lots of people are tempted to put their babies in gorgeous outfits but trust me baby grows are so easy to get on & off with zero faffing about. Plus babies aren't babies forever and I think baby grows are adorable!

I hope some of this information has been useful to someone!

Thanks for reading,

Mummy Monday - Weekly Round Up.

Another week which has absolutely flown by. Time is going so fast! And I'm really trying to savour every moment with Eadie. I had three lunch dates this week...so naughty for my 'diet'. On that note I lost nothing this week :(

Anyway I lunched with my old work colleagues which was lovely and they loved meeting Eadie. A lunch date with my pregnant friend who is due on my birthday! We went to Jacobs Inn in Wolvercote and it was delicious. And then lastly lunch date with the hubster to be, before he went off to the tattoo parlour. He had Eadies initials and date of birth - melted my heart. And then rolled his sleeve up even further to reveal my initials which I thought were a joke, but no I'm there too. Nearly cried!

Eadies been so good this week. We have a great little routine going now and she seems so content. Saturday night she shocked us by going down at half 8 (which is unheard of) and sleeping until 8!!! Heaven! Ive swapped her dummies this week from Tommie Tippie ones to the Avent ones. Her face was a picture when I first put it in her mouth but she seems quite content with them now! Shes also this week started to settle herself really well for sleeping. She basically just stuffs her little chops in to her Jelly Cat bunny and then drifts off! Its adorable to watch and slightly worrying thinking will she suffocate! Note to self - Must buy another bunny incase she ever loses it as its become a firm favourite!

On Saturday we had one of my best friends little girls 1st birthday party! I wanted to dress Eadie in a little dress but she decided to fall asleep before leaving - and you mustn't wake a sleeping baby. So anyway we turned up with a sleeping baby & left with a sleeping baby! She opened her eyes once and that was it! Sunday I asked my Mum if she wouldn't mind having Eadie for a few hours so I could relax / catch up on life / clean / so I walked half way to my Mums house & she strolled off with her and her dog Todd. Even as I walked away I felt sad! Anyway I spent the entire afternoon moping around, clock watching ready to pick her up! I felt like a little lost lamb! Eadie will be 11 weeks on Tuesday and we have had a few evenings out together but being at home is sooo different. It just didnt feel right! Maybe we should have gone out and actually done something! Next time hey!

Hope all you lovely people had a great week,

Love Emily
